Hat Head Fix

With all the annoying after effects of wearing a hat, it can be tempting to say “Forget it!” & venture out in the cold without one. No need to freeze, turn messy tresses into a cute style. A fast fix for hat head:

1. Remove your hat & hand your head upside down. Massage roots for 30 seconds, starting at the back & working you way to the front. The heat from your fingers will help smooth any dents that the hat may have created.

2. Stand up & gather all your hair at the top of your head, pulling strands upward. Hold the ends so roots are lifted & exposed, then spritz them with hair spray.

3. Once the hair is dry, use your comb to tease your roots. Go in one slow motion down toward your scalp (not up & down which can create tangles) to counteract flatness.

4. Finally, glide a dime-size drop of serum over your ends to calm any static & flyaways. Tip: Invest in a hat that’s a tiny bit bigger than normal so it doesn’t grip your head tightly & leave an obvious line.

Pink

Use Pink to Fake Perfect Skin
: Concealer is only half the battle when it comes to fixing flaws. To really perfect your complexion (no matter what your skin tone), try wearing lipstick in a warm pink. "It distracts people's eyes from blemishes and other imperfections," says Schick.

5 Mood Crashers

If you want to beat the blues, avoid these at all costs.

1. Going carb-crazy. Eating a lot of foods laden with simple carbohydrates, from sugary snacks to pretzels to pasta, creates a paradoxical effect: It boosts your blood sugar very quickly, but leaves an equally fast crash in its wake. The result can be physical and mental fatigue. Make sure the carbs in your snack or meal are accompanied by protein and fiber--for instance, an apple and some peanut butter beats a bag of chips anytime.

2. Drinking too much--or at all. Because alcohol lowers your inhibitions and creates a feeling of euphoria, it's sometimes thought of as a stimulant. But it's not--it's a depressant. And when the buzz subsides, fatigue and lethargy are often left over.

3. Overexercising. Your body can take only so much before it runs out of steam. If you find yourself becoming excessively tired and cranky for hours after a workout, you're likely exercising too hard and too frequently. Cutting back a bit will help your mood, and since building muscle depends on proper rest as much as it does on good workouts, a short break will probably help you reach your fitness goals faster, too.

4. Letting the little things get you down. Someone cut you off in traffic. Your one love was in a bad mood this morning. Your lunch was lousy and they gave you the wrong change. It's easy to let yourself stew over such minor irritants. The solution? Simply realize what you're doing and find something more positive, or at least more interesting, to think about. (Psychologists call this "thought stopping" and "thought substitution.") Or else just immerse yourself in a project that requires concentration. You may still have some big problems to deal with, but at least you won't be wasting so much time on the little ones.

5. Watching daytime television. If you've ever survived an entire day's worth of soap operas, Rice Lake, and commercials aimed at unemployed losers, you'll know what we mean.

Smoothie Diett

I absolutely looooveee smoothies. If you gave me a smoothie every day, every meal for the rest of my life, I'd be completely content (: Soo.. when I heard about the Smoothie Diet, I was like "I haveee to do that!" Now, I am not really dieting because I want to lose weight, I'm (somewhat) happy with the body I have right now. I am doing it mostly to nOT gain weight. If that makes any sense? haha

It's really simple actually & if you really like smoothies, it is a diet you will be able to keep without dreading it. The easier the diet, the easier it is to stay on it. I don't know about you, but my mornings are a little hectic, running around trying to get myself ready for school & getting the baby ready for gramma's house or hubby if he'll be watching him. Most mornings I don't have time to get breakfast because I am in such a hurry. We allll know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day (:

Well.. with the Smoothie Diet, you have a smoothie for breakfast. You start off your day with a meal filled with vitamins, nutrients,  fiber & protein, which curves your hunger.  Add some granola to your smoothie & it's breakfast in a cup! Your tummy is full til lunch time, reducing the urge to grab a quick snack (usually an unhealthy one!) For lunch, you have another smoothie. For dinner (here's the fun part) you get to eat whateverrrr you'd like since you shaved off a whole bunch of calories you would have consumed during breakfast & lunch, plus your mid-afternoon snacks. Just don't go too crazy (:

If you use frozen fruits, you do not need to add ice. I substitute honey for sugar, but it is to your liking. You can really make your own smoothie by combining any liquid, yogurt & fruit. All you need is a blender (: Have fun! Experiment! Enjoy!

Strawberry Banana Smoothie
plain (or strawberry) yogurt
a couple of strawberries
1 banana
1/2 scoop of whey protein (optional)
honey
Minute Maid berry punch juice

Mixed Berry Breakfast Smoothie
a handful of mixed berried
a scoop of granola
honey
orange juice
vanilla yogurt
1/2 scoop of whey protein (optional)

Cheapp, Funn & Romantic

Do you guys watch the Bachelor? Have you noticed how unrealistic the dates are? Okay, so the Bachelor wows the women by taking them on outrageous dates such as repelling from a hundred story building, a private concert, or being a part of a Broadway show.

Well what happens after the show is over & the Bachelor found his "wife"? There will be high expectations for future dates that he might not be able to meet. Then what? They will become upset & tend to grow apart. The show basically sets them up for failure. There has been 15 seasons of the Bachelor, and out of those 15 seasons, one 1 couple has made it through. Why don't they plan "normal" dates that require little to no money, resources & time to plan? Are those dates not as romantic?

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, but don't freak! You don't have to break the bank to have an amazing, romantic date with your lover.

5 Cheapp, Funn & Romantic Dates:

1. Staying in & cooking dinner together. The art of cooking is like a relationship. You each put in your own "ingredients" in & in the end, you get something deliciously unique. Set the mood by playing slow music in the background such as jazz or classical. Use flowers (hopefully the ones your other-half brought you!) as your centerpiece on the dining room table. Knowing that the food prepared in front of you was made with love makes the dinner even better.

2. Homemade Drive-In. Have you ever gone to a drive-in movie theatre? It's like going to the movies, but even better! It is so much fun and very romantic to watch a movie outdoors, however, it is very hard to find a drive-in movie theatre near you. And if you live by one, lucky you! Here's what you do: Pack a laptop, blankets & desserts & go to a nearby beach, park, or even your own backyard! It may get chilly out, but that gives you even more reasons to just cuddle up & enjoy mother nature (:

3. Ice Skating. Escape with your lover as you float on ice like there is no tomorrow. Forget about work, school, chores, worries & just let yourself go.

4. Take-Out & Candles. Not the cooking type? Order some take out, light a dozen of candles & turn off everything. No T.V, no iPod, no computer, no nothing. Spend this time just getting to know each other all over again. Talk about your day, your relationship, your feelings about each other. Just let loose.

5. Relive your first date. If your a guy, wash your car, hit the gym, have mom iron your clothes (haha), slick your hair back with a pound of gel, pick up some roses, open the door for your date.. If your a girl, get your hair & nails done, go tanning, pick out 7 different outfits.. Go to the same place you first went to, order the same meal, sit in the same seats, go to the same theatre, etc.. Reliving your first date will trigger some lost memories & experience that you have had with each other. It will open your eyes to everything that has happened for both of you & how far you have come since that first date.

Hmm.. I think I should subtly hint at hubby to read my blog.. maybe it'll strike some ideas into his head for Valentines dayy (: Have fun!

Super Straight Hairr, FAST

We don't have all day to straighten our hair, and most of us don't have the budget to get your hair professionally straightened at a salon everydayy. So, here are a few tips on how to DIY at the leisure of your own home (:

1. Brush your hair using a paddle brush while using a straightener. Preferably with boar bristles. The boar bristles will distribute the oil from your scalp to the ends (the driest part of your hair), making it softer, shinier & less prone to breakage. When the brush is near the ends, start straightening your hair near your scalp so the straightener follows the brush.

2. John Frieda Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight. Spray on damp hair, blow dry, and straighten with a flatiron. The results: straight hair for 3 days! Can you imagine all the time you will save in mornings if you can skip straightening your hair?! You can sleep in for like, an extra 20 minutess (:

3. Straighten bottom layer once. Don't waste all your time on the bottom layer because no one will see it unless you wear it up, which in that case, you probably don't even need to straighten your hair.

4. Invest in a good straightener. Ceramic straighteners work the best because the heat penetrates the hair not only on the outside, but the inside as well, finishing in extra straight hair. My personal favorite is the GHD straightener.

5. Plan ahead. Wash your hair the night before (or the morning of) so when it is time to straighten your hair, it is already dry and you just have to get down to business.

If most of you are like me, I try to stay away from as much styling products as possible. So treat your hair like the best friend that it is and practice safe heat (:

Lacross.. kinda (:

So my first request was to write about lacross. I juss laughed and brushed it off. But then I was thinking.. hmm.. maybe I should say something about lax.. My hubby is absolutely obsesseddd with that sport! He will talk, eat, sleep, drink, breathe, sing lacross if he could. I have had about enough with lacross! However, since it is something that means a lot to hubby, I go along with it.

There are times that even though you are not into something, you juss go along for the ride because that special someone is so enthusiastic about it & makes them happy. So if something as minute as a sport makes a loved one happy, why ruin it with a sour attitude? In the long run, if they are happy, you are happy. There will be times that something excites YOU & when the person you share the experience with, either by them being there or you talking about it, is wanting to hear what you have to say, your sweet little heart skips with joy because someone else is investing their time & attention into you. They may not care about the "thing" you are talking a . bout.. but they love you & care about you. Regardless of the redundant comments you make or the same stories you tell over & over again

Soooo.. next time you are in a situation that would make you wanna plug your ears permanently.. think about how you would like the other person to react to you (:
